South Omo – untouched Culture: The southern region is a unique place for diversified ethnics with their untouched culture. To mention some, Surma & Mursi (both ethnic’s women cut their lips to insert the clay plates as a sign of beauty), Hamar (also spelled as Hamer), Bena, Konso People, Bume, Nyangatom, Karo People, Arbore People, Dassenech People, Menit, Dizi People & etc practice amazing tradition & culture. Bull Jumping ceremony is being performed by Hamers- frequented between Septembers – October and at random time before/after the main rainy season (February – April).
DONGA – stick fighting is being performed by Surma people – most probable on every September. Markets in the upper and lower Omo are unique and worthy to be visited.
