Dead Sea Day Trip
- Driving down the Jordan valley to the Dead Sea through the arid but still vivid Judean Desert, passing the tent villages of Bedouins, ruins of ancient monasteries and the Inn of the Good Samaritan.
- Our first stop can be Qumran, the ruins of an ancient settlement, which got its fame of the nearby caves, where the Dead Sea Scrolls were found.
- Alternatively we can visit Ein Feshka/Einot Tzukim, the lowest nature reserve in the world, a beautiful oasis with a unique flora and fauna, featuring some archaeological remains too.
- Continue to the Ein Gedi Nature Reserve, where we can take a short hike to the beautiful David Waterfall, got his name after David who was hiding here from Saul.
- Masada is our next stop, and a fascinating story behind this geological formation. A palace complex built by Herod and later conquered by Jewish rebels. Tracking the different excavation layers, and understanding how this place became one of the national symbols of Israel.
- We can't skip the unique experience of floating in the Dead Sea, which is the lowest and saltiest water body on Earth!
