The Colosseum & the Forum – Immortal Symbols of the Roman Empire
The Colosseum & the Forum – Immortal Symbols of the Roman Empire
Coming to Rome, every tourist cherishes a number of images of the Roman Empire, the key one of which is the Colosseum. It is this huge and half destroyed amphitheater built over two thousand years ago that has become the symbol and to a certain extent a personification of Rome and if not the whole Italy. Here you can’t but feel an exciting thrill and specific satisfaction of the history of such a bright country.
I invite you on a walking excursion to the main sight of the Roman Empire – the Colosseum and the Roman Forum that have become the great legacy of the architectural and cultural heritage of Italy.
The Colosseum
Our exciting trip will touch upon the most exciting moments in the history of the Colosseum, which has seen in its long life great bloody fights, wild passions, tragic take-overs and natural calamities that caused serious damage to the grand amphitheater. Together we will walk in its inner spaces, have a close look and touch its history breathing stones without losing any important detail.
The Roman Forum
The Roman Forum evokes no less enthusiasm. Once it was the hive of activity for the Roman nobles and ordinary people. The Forum held the Senate meetings, the fates were shaped in the court rooms, and the main square had numerous rows of shopping stalls surrounded by the crowds of Romans.
Walking on basalt cobbled road of the Roman Forum, we will lose ourselves in the times of governance of the great Roman personalities; we will learn the story of their life and will see the place where the body of a most legendary personality of the Roman Empire – Julius Caesar – was committed to the flames.
Obviously, you can cover the history of the Colosseum and the Roman Forum in one day. But my excursion program includes the most exciting facts in the life of ancient Romans, which I’ll be happy to share during our walk. I’ll be glad to become your personal guide to the magnificent sites of Rome and make your impressions of this eternal city really unforgettable and magic.
