Vatican Museums – A Treasury of Eternal Cultural & Art Masterpieces

If you are interested in the history of Italy, if you love and appreciate art and stand in awe in front of ancient values, you simply have to visit the Vatican Museums where you will find the most exciting facts in the history of centuries long Vatican development and admire a countless number of the world’s art masterpieces.

Truth be told, you need to see it with your own eyes, because no matter how beautiful and splendid the sights of Rome are, Vatican has a special spirit which seems to saturate all canvases, frescoes and sculptures of this unique city state.

From Michelangelo to Raphael

The Vatican Museums keep great art masterpieces which made them famous in every corner of our planet. Just take the Sistine Chapel – glorification of skills of the Renaissance painters – Botticelli, Perugino, Rosselli and Michelangelo. Only finding yourself inside these walls, you can realize why the Sistine Chapel has become a really great legacy of Vatican and the entire world.

But there are things to see even apart from the Sistine Chapel.  The museum has a number of amazing galleries with picturesque canvases taking us to the world of ancient Italy. One of them is the Map Gallery with its walls covered with oldest geographical maps, showing the regions that used to belong to Vatican, as well as Italy, the Sicily, the Corsica...

You will be definitely impressed by the Tapestry Gallery where they purposefully created a dim light, mysteriously covering hand-made tapestry created by paintings of Raphael. It’s hard to imagine the number of years spent on embroidering these huge canvases and the hard work done to preserve them in such an amazing condition to this day.

Walking in the halls and galleries of the Vatican museums, we will see another world masterpiece – the Raphael's Rooms painted by Raphael and his apprentices.

The Saint Peter’s Dome – The Heart of Vatican

At the end of our tour we will go the Saint Peter’s Dome. This is a magnificent building, a symbol of the pope’s power and mightiness, created to astonish and thrill at the might of the Catholic Church. When you see the interior decoration and impressive size of the palace, you realize that the goals of its creators were achieved with great skill – the Saint Peter’s Basilica really strikes imagination.
