Road Map

1 DAY

Arriva and proceed to Negombo for overnight stay. Visit Dutch fort, Dutch canal, fish market, and St Mari’s church. (Boat ride in the lush mangrove swamps and canal, perfect for rare bird sighting optional)

2 DAY

Check out and proceed to Sigiriya. Visit Sigiriya UNESCO world heritage site. Overnight at Sigiriya or Habarana.

Optional

• Elephant back safari of one hour.


• Visit Hiriwadunna dry zone rural village.

3 DAY

Visit Polonnaruwa UNESCO world heritage site. Jeep safari to Minneriya or Kaudulla national parks in the evening (15:00 h to 18:30 h) Overnight at Sigiriya or Habarana.

4 DAY

Visit Anuradhapura UNESCO word heritage site in the morning. Visit Mihintale in the evening. Overnight at Sigiriya or Habarana.

Optional

• Visit the ruins of Ritigala forest monastery on the way.

5 DAY

Check out and proceed to Kandy. Visit Dambulla caves UNESCO world heritage site and a spice garden at Matale on the way to Kandy. Kandy city tour and enjoy the cultural show in the evening. Overnight at Kandy.

6 DAY

Visit temple of the tooth UNESCO world heritage site for morning ceremony (0930 h to 10:30 h). Visit Peradeniya Botanical Gardens and Kandy view point for an unwinding. (Pure Ayurvedic treatment by ayurvedic doctors is optional as usually travelers tend to be tired with muscle pains etc; after climbing the rocks)

7 DAY

Check out and proceed to Nuwara Eliya. Visit Ramboda falls, Mc Woods tea plantation and the factory, on the way.

8 DAY

Check out early morning with take away breakfast and proceed to Hortan Plains. After that proceed to Ohiya railway station to catch the train to Ella. This may be the most scenic train trip of Sri Lanka. The driver will travel along with your baggage to Ella railway station and await for you. Explore Ella and overnight at Ella.

9 DAY

Visit Little Adam’s peak in the morning and proceed to Yala. Visit falls on the way. After the lunch shall commence the jeep safari at Yala national park (14:30 h to 18:30 h)to spot leopard, sloth bare, spotted deer, wild bores, elephants, crocodiles and many more animals. Overnight at Yala or Tissamaharama.

10 DAY

Checkout and proceed to visit Galle UNESCO world heritage site. Visit stilt fishermen at Weligama and Japanese temple at Unawatuna on the way to Galle fort. Optional – Visit sea turtle hatchery on the way at Kosgoda. (Rest a little and leave for the airport)
