A full immersion in nature and history, to the masterpiece abbey and bay of San Fruttuoso
From Santa Margherita, we will gently ascend through olive groves and hamlets, passing by historical settlements, with views over the Tigullio gulf. Crossing a Mediterranean oak and pine stretch of forest, we will reach the ridge settlement of Prato, beyond which point, the wilder part of our hike will start. An easy trail running high over the cliffs will take us through Mediterreanen bush and forest, with stunning views over the sea, to the pass of Base 0. From there, we will steeply descend through a dark Mediterranean oak forest to the abbey of San Fruttuoso, a place that no words can fully describe. If you choose the whole day option, it will be possible to visit the abbey inside.
From April to October we can return by boat directly to Portofino or Santa Margherita. During the winter months this service is not running: so we can take a boat to Camogli, and return to Santa Margherita by train.
This is a moderate hiking tour, requiring however some practice to walk along rough and steep trails.
Can be done year round; try to avoid peak tourist days.
The basic tour, from / to Santa Margherita or Portofino, return by boat can be done in half a day (5 hours); however, why to rush? you will like to spend time along the way or in San Fruttuoso. So, consider to choose a full day option or, if you are a fitted hiker, or you prefer one of the other tours in the mount of Portofino.
Full day option costs 280 euros per tour
The boat service may be suspended with rough sea. In case of bad weather forecasts, it is not advisable to plan a boat return.
You can ask your guide for other treks and tours and treks around the area.
