After a comfortable pick from central location, get driven to the site
1st in the itinerary is RAJON KI BAOLI:- located inside Mehrauli Archaeological Park is a historical step well. built during the reign of Sikander Lodi. This is the grandest of all the baolis in Delhi. consists of 5 levels whereas Agrasen or Gandhak ki baoli has 3 levels. Also houses a 12 pillared tomb and a mosque.
This baoli is named Rajon ki Baoli after masons who resided in the chambers. The baoli has a vertical shaft for drawing water and hollow passageways.
METCALF CANOPY :- perched On the peak of a mound stands canopy built in 1850s by Charles Metcalfe, as a ‘folly’. The folly is so a new building meant to look like old and to be viewed in a picturesque landscape.
hexagonal structure is unremarkable. The columns & the semi-circular arches are not ornamental. It is the folly’s lighthouse setting — furnishing a view of the towering Qutub Minar, the lovely Jamai Kamali mosque and the rolling greenscape — that soak your senses with overwhelming passions.
QUILI KHAN’S TOMB - of a quiet little distance from the qutub, situated and of convenient access whenever change of air is desirable, people admire both its comfort and beauty.
BALBAN’S TOMB:- After demise of Ghiyas-ud-din Balban , he was buried with royal honour in this area & is almost in the state of ruins and lacks the ornamental style seen in the Tomb of other rulers of Balban.
JAMALI KAMALI MOSQUE :- The tomb belonged to a saint along with huge following. In its early years to become a Sufi saint, he went all over the world, made version of poems in the Lodi kingdom. He seemed to be the courtroom poet, the write-up which he continued to carry even with the succeeding Mughal rulers.
