Semipalatinsk nuclear test ground
First, we need to reach Kurchatov city, a kind of Los-Alamos a'la USSR. It is situated amidst endless and uninhabited are of East Kazakhstan with twice the size of Austria.
Within two days we will learn about and visit museum of nuclear energy that tells us about Soviet nuclear program development - quite a dark but very interesting part of international politics of Post-War period.
The same day we will visit Ground Zero - the spot of first test. There we will see facilities used to carry out nuclear explosions, impressive site!
The next day we will see artificial lake that was created using nuclear charge, named locally Atomic lake. It is accurate round basin with the depth of 180 meters and 500 meters in diameter.
If we move fast enough, the same day we can visit long-range aviation base, which nowadays is abandoned. Even 70 years after construction it look very impressive.
